Upcoming Trends for Autumn
Upcoming trends for autumn. Each season has a trend that sets it apart from previous years and future seasons. It might be a certain style, colour or texture. It could be about the accessories, a single piece of furniture, whatever it is, that is what makes the trend unique to that season.
Obviously autumn naturally lends itself to some obvious colour choices and styles. I am fairly certain; no one will have trouble working out what those upcoming trends for autumn might be. However, Halloween and the usual associated colours such as; various shades of orange have been done countless times before. The real question is how can we avoid those colours, still be bang on trend, and most importantly feel comfortable in our own homes.
Over the next few paragraphs, I will take you through some of the possible upcoming trends for autumn, and explain how to make them work within your own home.
According to “House Beautiful” in terms of colour - pastel shades of pink are one of the upcoming trends for autumn. It seems that pink has been popular for most of 2020, and that doesn’t appear to be changing anytime soon. It is a perfect contrast to the ever popular grey, as well as the deep blues and greens we have seen recently. Some might see it as a strange choice of colour for autumn and winter. However, pastel shades of pink can bring a lot of warmth and brighten up any room on those long, dark winter evenings.
“Real Homes” have said another key upcoming trend for autumn is texture. Use blankets, cushions or anything that adds layers to a room. If blankets and cushions aren’t your thing, then plants, flowers – real, dried or silk will have the same effect. In my opinion there is nothing better than texture to make a room feel cosy. An oversized blanket, a good book or your favourite box set and you are good to go...
The real eye opener in terms of upcoming trends for autumn is chintz. Yes! Chintz is making a comeback! Back in the 1930’s everything was chintz from sofas to curtains, wallpaper to carpet. Chintz in 2020 has been cleverly pared back to patterned wallpaper for the time being. The perfect way: to capture a bygone decade, without going over the top.
If you want to go back further in time, then drinks trolleys are another item on the list of upcoming trends for autumn. Think Art Deco meets “The Great Gatsby” and the very best of 1920’s glamour. It is easy to imagine a beautifully cut glass decanter sat on top of it, with some Clarice Cliff inspired glasses waiting to be filled with your perfect drink.
One thing is certain, with so many different style ideas on offer; you won’t be short of choices when it comes to picking your ideal look from the upcoming trends for autumn. Whether it is a change of colour or new furniture, some new accessories, there is something for everyone. Let’s face it; I don’t know anyone who doesn’t love updating their homes, or need an excuse to get the paint brush out.
The big question is: How can you keep up with the upcoming trends for autumn, without spending a lot of money? Or even better, no money at all? Well there are some simple things you can do to change the look and feel of a room. They include: moving your furniture around, (it goes without saying this is the cheapest option), buying small but beautiful accessories such as photo frames, new scatter cushions, or turning the chimney breast into a feature wall, with a different colour. All of these things can be done with minimal cost, time and effort.
I am sure most of you are asking “where to start?” Some people swear by mood boards or Pinterest. You can also look through magazines for inspiration. All are brilliant starting points, and great for helping you decide what styles and colours you like. Think about what will work with your room shape and size, and more importantly any furniture you already have in the room. Once you have decided on what look you want, it is just a case of putting it together. Before you know it, you will have your dream room, which fits in perfectly with the upcoming trends for autumn.
Till next time...
